Commissioner backs economic crime crackdown

Andrew Snowden joined officers as they worked alongside neighbouring police forces and supporting agencies to track down criminals on our roads, with a specific focus on organised crime operating across county lines.

This is one of many operations Lancashire Constabulary is conducting to combat both dangerous drivers and organised crime – both priorities within the Commissioners fighting crime plan. Operation Warrior specifically, continues to target individuals involved in organised crime, with officers arresting 17 organised crime gang suspects every week.

Operation Vanquish also continues to combat dangerous drivers on our roads, tackling crimes ranging from uninsured drivers to drug-driving.

Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Andrew Snowden said:

“Disrupting and dismantling organised crime is one of my top Fighting Crime Plan priorities and by stopping criminals in their tracks as they move across the North West, we want to make the message as clear as possible- there is no tolerance for criminality in Lancashire.

“These activities prove how useful Regional Organised Crime Unit’s are, and continue to be, in collating and sharing information, leading to arrests of individuals who are a blight to numerous areas not just Lancashire.

“As National Lead for for the Association of Police and Crime Commissioner’s Police, Technology and Digital portfolio, seeing officers using innovative technology alongside traditional policing methods to put criminals behind bars is exactly what I want to see.

“I will continue to back the Chief Constable with the resources he needs to take the fight to criminals and keep people safe, making those arrests that protect the overwhelming, law abiding majority and making life as difficult as we can for offenders.”
